Are You 100% Sure?

Matthew 7:21-23

“ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

I was thinking lately about one of the Ladies’ Bible Classes that I did a few years ago. I was impressed by the Lord to do something different in my Ladies’ Bible Class. Normally I taught on Women of the Bible but that week, I felt led of the Lord to do something different. I had overheard a conversation between a woman that I had known for quite some time and another lady. The woman that I knew well was telling the other woman about her salvation experience. I remember thinking to myself, “Wow, I never knew that.” I began to wonder about other people that I had known for a long time and wondered about their salvation experiences. There are many people in our churches that we know are saved but just never heard their salvation story.

1 John 2:3-6

“And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.”

So, the Lord impressed upon my heart to open my class up, beginning with myself, and tell about our salvation experiences. Little did I know the impact that following God’s leading would have. I started the class out with some verses about telling others of the hope that was within us and telling others how they came to the Lord. The response was immediate and one after another the women opened their hearts and shared their testimonies of salvation. It wasn’t long before a pattern started to emerge. Many of the women, although outwardly they had been living the Christian life, told how they realized that they were not 100% sure that the prayer that they had prayed earlier in life was real in their hearts. They told how later in life, even after having been involved in ministry of some sort, they came to the realization that they really were not saved and asked the Lord to come into their hearts as adults. Let me just stop here and say that there are many who pray as children and young people that I believe are saved. But in “these” testimonies, it was more about reciting and not really possessing.

Luke 13:27

“But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are;

depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.”

It was a very moving class, and the women were very open and honest. At the end I closed by making the remark that I am afraid that there are a lot of people who are holding on to a little prayer that they recited as the basis for their salvation. I explained that there has to be a life to back up the prayer and if you just said a prayer and nothing has changed in your life, chances are that you may not be truly saved. Then I went on to say that if anyone had any questions or I could help them in some way, to please contact me. The next afternoon I was working at my desk in my office, and my phone rang. It was a sweet young woman who had been in class the night before. She was crying and told me that she was just like the women who had given their testimonies. She said a prayer and was baptized when she was young but had been struggling with the realization that she really didn’t think that she was saved. I had the privilege of talking with her and leading her to the Lord over the phone. I was praising the Lord with her that now she knew for sure without any doubt that she would have eternal life in Heaven with the Lord. Praise the Lord for His moving on that class.

1 John 1:6

“If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:”

How about you? Are you holding on to a recited prayer? Are you living a life that backs up that prayer? Has there been a change? Do you love and long for the things of God or do you have to be forced to go to church and read your Bible or spend time fellowshipping with your Savior? Please be sure today! I would not want to base my eternity on a meaningless prayer if it had no life to back it up. It will mean the difference between Heaven and Hell. Please make sure today that the Lord truly lives in your heart and if you are not sure, pray right now meaning it in your heart. “Lord, I know that I am a sinner. I know that Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I am sorry for my sin, and I am repenting or turning away from my sin. I am asking You to come into my heart right now to be my Lord and my Savior. Thank You in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

ARE YOU SURE??

John 14:6
